I love you, I love you, I love you and you get on my f*@kin' nerves sometimes

To my children:

I love you so much it hurts a little bit.  I love you when you get suspended from school.  I love you when you get As and I love you when you don't do your chores.  I love you when you are just being you.  I love you sooooo, soooo, sooooo much.  I love you. However, when you don't do your homework, when you get in trouble at school, when you are slapping the crap out of each other while I am trying to drive this damn car....you get on my f*@kin' nerves. Seriously,  what is a mom to do?  I can not punch you in the face right now.   I would love to be able to just give you hugs and kisses all the time.  That would make me so happy.  But no.  You require chastising on a very, very regular basis.  It seems like I have my foot up your ass every day.   I do this because I love you too.  So that when you are a grown man the police won't have a foot up your ass.  Yes, I love you, love you, love you soooo much.  And you do get on my f*@kin' nerves sometimes. I found myself talking with myself today.  Reminding myself that some day, you will be a grown up and you will go out into the world and make your own way.  And this made me smile.  Not because you will be gone out of my house.  It made me smile because I know that when the time comes you will be prepared to be successful in life and you will have a good life.  I pray for that everyday.  I pray for you to have a long, successful life and for the day you getting on my f*@kin' nerves is just some funny memories of your childhood.  I love you, I love you, I love you.  I love you more than you get on my nerves.
